Pierre David Guetta born 7 November 1967, known professionally as David Guetta is a French house music producer and DJ. Originally a DJ at nightclubs during the 1980s and 1990s, he co-founded Gum Productions and released his first album, Just a Little More Love, in 2002. Later, he released Guetta Blaster (2004) and Pop Life (2007). His 2009 album One Love included the hit singles "When Love Takes Over" (featuring Kelly Rowland), "Gettin' Over You" (featuring Chris Willis, Fergie & LMFAO) and "Sexy Bitch" (featuring Akon), the last becoming a top five hit in the US and all three reaching #1 in the UK, as well as another internationally known single called "Memories" featuring Kid Cudi which became a top five hit in many countries. David Guetta has sold over three million albums and 15 million singles worldwide. He is currently one of the most sought-after music producers. David Guetta may be one of the biggest names in dance music in 2009, but his ride to superstardom hasn’t been fast by any means.
His debut single “Just a Little More Love” fared reasonably well in his homeland of France but it would be another five years before he would really claim international success.
After many releases, David Guetta released “Love Don’t Let Me Go”, his first big international hit. He followed this up with a string of well received dance floor fillers like “Love Is Gone”, “Baby When The Lights”, “Delirious” and “Tomorrow Can Wait”. The star power of Guetta was catching on.
A few years on and 2009 is the international year of the Guetta. Approached by The Black Eyed Peas to produce and write for their new album The E.N.D, they are currently one of the world’s biggest bands, with singles “Boom Boom Pow” (4 times platinum in Australia) and “I Gotta Feeling” (3 times platinum) breaking records the world over.
If that wasn’t enough, David Guetta released his own album One Love. The first single, “When Love Takes Over” features ex Destiny’s Child Kelly Rowland was a global phenomenon and major club hit. Assumingly impossible to top, David Guetta then released “Sexy Bitch” with Akon. “Sexy Bitch” is the first song by Guetta under his name to break the lucrative US market, smashing into the Top 20.
The single also topped the Aussie charts and has already gone double platinum. David Guetta's next single “One Love”, featuring vocals by “American Boy” singer Estelle, looks set to make it a hat trick.
